In today’s quote Hildegard de Bingen’s writes about the Holy Spirit actively moving through our lives, giving us heart. These days the Holy Spirit is my favorite “person” of the Trinity. In my talks with God, I am really calling on the Holy Spirit to heal and clean all that isn’t right with me and with others. God as creator offers me stability; Jesus gives me plenty of examples of the part that I have to play in this, and that sure is a challenge.
The Trinity is a mighty complex concept in its own right: God in three persons—Father, Son, Holy Spirit. It is further complicated by a confusion of terms: the word God refers to the entire concept, as well as to one of its parts, namely the Father. No wonder God told Moses to tell the people that “I Am” had sent him. But even there God is referred to as God. We can’t get away from the word, which just may be the most mystifying word around.
