We are visiting our grandchildren. You can imagine that there’s a lot of life going on here; quite a contrast to my life of silence, solitude and simplicity. What is my role here? Sure I can help with the cooking, I can walk and talk with people. But what is my God role? This morning before everyone was up, I chatted with God about it all. I heard that beyond being helpful in the usual ways, I can be a prayerful presence.
We hear talk of working to bring about the kingdom of God, but there seems to be a sense that this will be in the future, not in our lifetime. That’s a big way of looking at it, but what about little moments when the kingdom of God is at hand? When I remember to live my life through a God lens, maybe, just maybe I have the possibility of bringing about the kingdom for a moment or two.
