A friend had surgery yesterday and as promised, I prayed for her throughout the day. My prayer wasn’t desperate, as if God might not pay attention unless I continued to remind God. It was ceaseless prayer: clearing human static along the channel to God, opening the way for the Holy Spirit to pass uninhibited, getting rid of negative energy that gets in the way. Co-creating with God; doing my human part.
I was also praying some of the details as a way for me to gain compassion for whatever my friend might be feeling and experiencing--pain, fear, anger.
Prayer continues to be a mystery to me. At my best, I pray as God leads me. Sometimes I think prayer is mighty complex. But if I can pray, ‘Thy will be done,’ and belief it, prayer becomes mighty simple. At least the best we humans can do.
