My prayer rhythm is different here at home than at the cottage, which amounts to less time for prayer. Why? Because I have a busier life here—visiting, grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, appointments, you name it. At the cottage I have no one to visit; I bring prepared food and anyway, how hard is it to pour a dish of cereal?; nothing or no one to clean for; I don’t have a doctor or even anyone to cut my hair, so no appointments.
The rhythm isn’t quite in sync yet but I trust it will fall into place after opening day at Fenway is in the books. Oh, don’t misunderstand me, I don’t pray for my teams. I did that when I was a kid and discovered that it took years for God to change from a New York Yankee fan to a Brooklyn Dodger fan.
