Christians are called to do their utmost to live for God, not for themselves. This is no part-time job or easy way of life; being a church member or participating in religious celebrations such as Christmas or Easter isn’t enough. It takes a singular commitment, a one track mind, complete surrender, and a powerful desire. One of the challenges is that we forget this call, we forget God, thus ending up with two different jobs, some days working for God, other times for ourselves. We find ourselves in the cycle of quitting and being rehired, again and again.
This is the way it is for me. I really want the God job, but sometimes it is too hard or I forget, or I take a vacation, or get lazy—the list goes on and on. The best I can do is to pick myself up and recommit. Of course it’s not all on me. God plays a part. Although too fathomable for my mind to grasp, my heart gives me faith to let go and let God, and cherish the mystery.
