For now, however, all I can muster is enough energy to send a few observations about the Church of Scotland service In Broadford.
Here’s my stream of consciousness: very welcoming; simply decorated church, with a small, simple wooded cross in front; clock visible to all; no printed program but bulletin with announcements; hymnal (just words, no music), and a Psalter was handed to me when I entered; Bible in the pews; several references to scripture, Old and New Testament; reading of part of Romans 9 and Ephesians 2; no Gospel reading; children’s talk and sermon both suggested a high Christology; about grace and God’s mercy and following Jesus.
I’m glad I went. I left feeling grateful and grace-filled, and with much to think about.
