Intercessory prayer is the easiest form of prayer for me. It’s what I’m called to do and I like the call. But there’s more to it than just giving God some names, for as the saying goes, God already knows who they are. So what’s going on with all of this? There’s got to be more to it than meets the eye…Um, another saying.
There are many prayer categories, intercessory prayer being just one of them. Others include thanksgiving, praise, confession, forgiveness; we all have our own names and favorites. Regardless of the type of prayer, however, I believe that the important piece that we each bring to prayer is our intention. I pray for an open heart, a heart without judgments and pride. When that happens, and believe me it’s not all the time, when that prayer is answered, I know that God is hearing my prayer. How do I know? Because I hear God.
