|A Prayer Diary||
So as we transition into the New Year, let me resolve to listen to God’s voice a bit more, as to what I should think or do or say in my daily responsibilities, rather than engage in people-pleasing 24/7.
What does it avail me that this birth is always happening, if it does not happen in me?
Today my ever-changing world, overshadowed by the meaninglessness of post-modern existence, is enlightened by Him, Who shows me the Way through change.
Remember, when we speak of Advent or preparing for Christmas, we’re not just talking about waiting for the little baby Jesus to be born. That already happened 2,000 years ago. In fact, we’re welcoming the Universal Christ, the Cosmic Christ, the Christ that is forever being born in the human soul and into history.
Those who have abandoned themselves to God always lead mysterious lives and receive from him exceptional and miraculous gifts by means of the most ordinary, natural and chance experiences in which there appears to be nothing unusual.
Jean-Pierre de Caussade
I think distractions in prayer are often because we have let ourselves wander too far from the things that matter most at common times, and so we have slipped into an easily interrupted, easily distracted, frame of mind.
Give God your fear, which is something that God does not otherwise have.
Br. Curtis Almquist,
We know that whatever happens, the love of God is always with us and that [God] will turn even our failures into perfect love.
Unity of heart is a bond which draws together body and soul, heart and senses, and all the outward and inward powers and encloses them in the union of love.
Jan Van Ruysbroeck (1293-1381)
