|A Prayer Diary||
In the spirit of gratitude and respect, I resolve to fill this day with love, light, peace, and respect. I will think of them and remember.
Where there is humility, remembrance of God with sobriety and attention, and frequent prayer directed against enemies; there is the place of God, or the heaven of the heart where the hosts of demons fear to enter, since it is the dwelling place of God.
Philotheus of Sinai
As a nation, we have to ask: When in God’s name are we gonna stand up to the gun lobby … do what we all know in our gut needs to be done?”
Jesus says that there is only one way to develop spiritually, and that is by concentration on God.
Jesus rarely spoke about the afterlife because he was too busy preaching about salvation, the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven as present realities.

Contemplation is a wordless resting in the presence of God beyond all thoughts and images.
The point is this: God is indeed a major theological problem, a major question. But God is a major answer, as well. Or otherwise, we would be left with no answer but ourselves. What a pity that would be.
What we need most
in order to make progress
is to be silent
before this great God
with our appetite
and with our tongue,
for the language
he best hears
is silent love.
--John of the Cross, Sayings of Light and Love, trans. Mirabai Starr
