So we give thanks today for the gift of hope which our predecessors inspire in us. Not just hope that death is not the final word, but hope that we like them can change and grow until we become the person God wants us to be.

All the scriptural imagery (harps, crowns, gold, etc.) is, of course, a merely symbolical attempt to express the inexpressible.
As the moorland pool images the sun, so in our hours of self-giving Thou shinest on us, and we mirror Thee to others.
When I am full alive I look around me with eyes that are open…and as a result I experience all of life as a gift.
Esther de Waal
You can safely assume that you've created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do.
