You must allow the flow of faith, love, healing, hope, joy and light to pass through you into the world. You must allow the flow of hatred, darkness and sin to flow from the world through you to God.
Sabbath is the way God intended life to be ordered, with a built-in rhythm of rest and refreshment.
Kenneth L Gibble
Jesus said, “Watch and pray.” This is what we are doing in centering prayer. Watching is just enough activity to stay alert. Praying is opening to God.
When a man finds that it is his destiny to suffer, he will have to accept that suffering as his task; the single unique task. He will have to acknowledge the fact that even in suffering he is unique and and alone in the universe. No one can relieve him of the suffering or suffer in his pace. His unique opportunity lies in the way in which he bears his burden.
Viktor E. Frankl
Spend a few moments asking God to let you feel what the person for whom you are praying feels. God will then make a strong heart connection between you and that person.
Without an inner climate of compassion in the heart it is not possible to be a peacemaker.
Martin L. Smith
A way where there is no way; this is what God, and only God, can provide.
Martha Mary Chapel.
The Sabbath is not for the sake of the weekdays; the weekdays are for the sake of Sabbath. It is not an interlude but the climax of living.
Abraham Joshua Heschel
We need to find God, and God cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence.
We pray to God because He has too much to answer for to be allowed simply to disappear, because we have to protest against Him as well as to Him, and because the only alternative is despair, or silence.
