Part of the reason Christians got off track is that around the time of the Enlightenment we tried to stand apart from and objectify God, as if we could explain God using scholastic philosophy and theology and rational, objective thinking.
Spiritual life is the bouquet, the perfume, the flowering and fulfillment of human life, not a supernatural virtue imposed on it.
May all the changes that would shift
away from sorrow and into peace
away from violence
and into love
away from darkness and into light
Now, not later,
To practice meditation as an act of faith is to open ourselves to the endlessly reassuring realization that our very being and the very being of everyone and everything around us is the generosity of God.
