Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak; let the earth hear the words of my mouth. May my teaching drop like rain, my speech condense like dew; like gentle rain on grass, like showers on new growth. For I will proclaim the name of the Lord; ascribe greatness to our God.
The Lord will open up for you his rich storehouse, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season and to bless all your understandings.
The eyes of the Lord your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.
Then the Lord said to me: “You have skirted this hill country long enough. Head north.”
Be strong and bold; have no fear or dread of them because it is the Lord your God who goes with you; he will not fail or forsake you.
It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.
You must therefore be careful to do as the Lord your God has commanded you; you shall not turn to the right or to the left.
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
Since there will never cease to be some need on the earth, I therefore command you, “Open your hand to the poor and needy neighbor in your land.”
Word and Image
offers two parts of my morning ritual, scripture and visual art. I make no
attempt to related the two (as I do in my daily quote and blog entries) and
yet, sometimes that will happen, for as we know God works in mysterious ways.
